About New Creation Woodcraft

A Life Shaped by Faith, Family, History, and Craftsmanship

Our Story

My love for woodcraft began when I was eight years old, building my first pinewood derby car under the patient guidance of my father, a master craftsman who could fix anything. He didn’t simply build things; he built character through quiet perseverance, kindness, and integrity. In many ways, he reminded me of our Heavenly Father: steady, loving, and faithful. His example planted in me a lifelong desire to honor Christ in the way I work and live.

A few years later, my love for history took root. When I was ten, I saw an old photograph of my grandmother as a young orphan in France. That single image made history suddenly personal. Objects weren’t just “old things” anymore. They were witnesses to real lives and real faith, shaping the world we now inherit. By twelve, I was collecting antiques (starting with a small set of hobo nickels) and discovering that every object carries a story worth preserving.

Years passed, life unfolded, and by God’s grace I came to saving faith in Jesus Christ. Through His patience and leading, the threads of my life: faith, history, craftsmanship, and service, were woven together into a calling. The Scripture that defines that calling is:

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

One day, while rebuilding a ruined Depression-era dresser into something new, sanding in the quiet and thinking on God’s mercy, I realized that restoring antiques is a living metaphor for the Gospel. What was once broken, forgotten, and worn is given new purpose. That truth changed everything.
New Creation Woodcraft was born from that moment.

Our Mission

I believe that every person has value, purpose, and hope through Jesus Christ, and every object entrusted to me has a story that deserves honesty and respect. My desire is not simply to assign numbers or values, but to honor both the piece and the people connected to it, while reflecting Christ’s love in every interaction.

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”
Colossians 3:23 (KJV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 (KJV)

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want… he restoreth my soul…”
Psalm 23 (KJV, excerpt)

These Scriptures are not slogans. They are the foundation of who we are and why we work the way we do.

Where We Work

New Creation Woodcraft operates from our 1880 Victorian farmhouse in small-town Illinois. It is close enough to Chicago for commerce, but far enough into the country to enjoy the quiet beauty God has made. Much of our antique preservation work happens in the parlor; most computer work unfolds around the kitchen table (because that is the heart of the home). Our restoration and creative work take place in the garage workshop, a place that has gladly taken priority over warm trucks in winter.

This home, like our work, is lived-in, grateful, and prayer-filled.

What Makes Us Different

We believe that kindness requires honesty, not flattery.

Therefore, we approach every evaluation with:

• honesty and humility
• prayerful consideration
• historical research and accuracy
• patience and generosity
• careful stewardship
• protection of family heritage
• service over profit
• honoring the maker and the story
• truth, even when inconvenient

We research deeply.
We teach as we serve.
We emphasize stewardship over resale.
We never inflate value.
We view our work as ministry.

Whether restoring, evaluating, or creating faith-based goods, our hope is that every interaction becomes a tangible expression of God’s love.

A Family Calling

Though New Creation Woodcraft began as my personal calling, God has richly blessed this work through my wife, Christine. Her encouragement, wisdom, and partnership strengthen everything we do. In time, she will also be offering her own faith-centered creations: meaningful pieces designed to bring warmth, beauty, and quiet reflection of God’s goodness into everyday life.

This is a household mission, lived gently and gratefully.

Who We Serve

We joyfully serve people from every background and belief. Whether you share our faith or do not, you will always be:

• welcomed
• respected
• heard
• never pressured
• and treated with genuine care

Our antiques, evaluations, and handcrafted items are simply the tools.
The true purpose is love, and the hope we have in Christ.

Our Prayer for You

We pray that when you encounter New Creation Woodcraft, you feel valued, encouraged, and gently reminded that your life has meaning in the eyes of God.

Everything we build, restore, write, design, or preserve is an offering,
done earnestly, humbly, and for His glory.

“Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

We are honored to serve you.
