This elegant antique porcelain vase was produced in Bavaria, Germany by Rudolf Wächter & Co. (R & C Bavaria) around the turn of the 20th century. Pieces like this were created for export to the American market and were prized decorative objects in parlors and sitting rooms.
The vase features a rich cranberry ground glaze with delicate gilt accents, framing a beautifully detailed hand-decorated romantic scene of a seated woman beside doves in a garden landscape. The soft pastel palette and refined composition reflect the graceful aesthetic popular during the Belle Époque period.
The form is a classic cabinet vase shape, designed to sit prominently on a mantel, piano, or display cabinet where the painted scene could be admired.
The base bears the R & C Bavaria mark, confirming manufacture in Bavaria, Germany during the late 19th to early 20th century.
Condition is very good for its age, with minor surface wear and light loss to the gilding consistent with over a century of gentle use.
A beautiful decorative example of early European porcelain that adds warmth and refinement to traditional or vintage interiors.
