A wonderfully timeworn piece of early 20th-century enamelware, this vintage wash basin features a warm buttery yellow interior accented by a contrasting green rolled rim. Years of use have left scattered chips and areas of enamel loss, giving the basin the unmistakable character of an authentic household piece rather than a modern reproduction.
Wash basins like this were once everyday necessities, used for washing hands and faces before indoor plumbing became commonplace. Today, its soft colors and well-earned wear make it especially appealing as primitive, farmhouse, cottage, or country décor.
Display it on a washstand, kitchen table, open shelving, or filled with seasonal greenery and textiles. The basin is attractive enough to stand on its own while retaining the utilitarian simplicity that made enamelware such an enduring part of the American home.
Condition
Good antique condition with visible enamel loss, chips, discoloration, and wear consistent with age and use. The most noticeable losses are around the rim. These have been left intact as part of the basin’s history and character. Please review photographs carefully for condition.
Biblical Reflection
There is something fitting about preserving an object made for such an ordinary task. Much of life is built from simple acts of service performed faithfully day after day.
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
Colossians 3:23 KJV
