This distinctive desk began life in the late nineteenth century as a Victorian pump organ, likely built around 1880–1895. At some point in its long history, the instrument was thoughtfully repurposed into a functional writing desk while preserving much of its original craftsmanship and character.
The upper cabinet retains the architectural lines and decorative carvings typical of Victorian parlor organs, including shaped supports, carved panels, and the distinctive organ side brackets. The former keyboard opening has been fitted with a black marble writing surface, creating a durable and elegant workspace.
